DO IT YOURSELF; EYEWEAR COUTURE

To spice up your discrete, plain colored simple frame - decorate them yourself! Buy stones, pearls, buttons or whatever - with adhesive on the back - and design your own glasses. Just deside what´s going to be your style...

...AND A VIEW FROM A DIFFERENT ANGLE

Bling, bling!

MOVIESTAR NIGHT

Image borrowed from google.com

YEAH...managed to get tickets to the big gala opening of the fair, with the team "movie stars". Movie Icons such as Greta Garbo, James Dean and Audrey Hepburn was projected on the big walls in the salon and the show included acting, singing and circus art. The evening also pretty much framed all the big trends we´ll see in the nearest future; "Moviestar glamour" a´la Sophia Lauren with her feminine round shaped frames, "Wayfarer, the survivor" and Audrey Hepburns iconic maxi sunglasses. So, bring out the old classics because vintage, retro and elegant luxury is what will frame our eyes next season!

HOW TO BUY GLASSES FOR OVER 1000 STORES IN 6 CONTRIES

Finally there, after some issues with metro strike, loud rugby fans and trying to dump our luggage somewhere... Have now met up with the buying team who where all ready to hit the fair.

As a buyer you very much fo for the first impression when you look at new styles. Simply because that´s how the customers work. It´s also important to imagine who the customer is, try and visualize the person you are buying for. Interesting but difficult process... but this team is good.... after all, they do buy glasses for more than 1000 stores in the UK, Ireland, Holland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

MILANO - HERE I COME

Time for MIDO, spring optical fair in Milano. I will join Specsavers buying team in their process of sourcing new products for next season. I will also meet some designers and check out what´s new in the glasses jungle! Stay tuned!

FEMININE & ROBUST MEETS MANLY & ROBUST

EYEWEAR IS THE ICING ON THE CAKE FOR HAUTE COUTURE DESIGNERS.

One of the highlights during the autumns optical fair in Paris was definately the Haute Couture designer Manish Aurora´s glasses collection. Indianborn Arora made comet career with his comical and inspiring view on haute couture, which is also seen in his labels ”Manish Arora” and ”Fish Fry” , presented in flagship stores in New Delhi, Paris and London. Arora won MTV Style Award ffor best designer 2005 as well as Best Collection Award at Miami Fashion Week the same year. He´s now planning to take the optical world by storm. ”Glasses is something I´ve long dreamt of designing, it´s like the icing in the cake for Haute Couture designers..." said Manish Arora before the launch of his new collection.

Arora have a 10 year global license with Inspecs, one of Specsavers designers, and the first collection was launched during Paris optical fair. While sitting in their booth admiring my absolute favorite in his collection, I heard a voice behind my back, with Indian accent, saying; ”That´s my favorite too!”. I was sooo lucky to meet the designer in person and during his 5 min short visit, get a few words with him. The collection will be found at Selfridges in London in spring.
